The Forest of Civilizations at the Heart of the European Union’s National Day Celebrations at Expo 2025. Olympic Champion Lukáš Krpálek Among the Visitors

Osaka, May 20, 2025 – As part of the European Union’s National Day at Expo 2025, the Commissioner General of the EU Pavilion, accompanied by twenty ambassadors from EU member states, visited the Forest of Civilizations. Their visit was a strong gesture of support for the project’s values, and they ceremoniously selected their own tree, which they named after the European Union.

This symbolic act represents growing international recognition and interest in the Forest of Civilizations. The presence of such high-level diplomatic representatives confirms the project’s unique capacity to reach across cultures and nations, becoming a true symbol of unity and global connection.

Among other distinguished guests, Lukáš Krpálek, Olympic judo champion and official ambassador of the Forest of Civilizations, also visited the exhibition. During his time at the Expo, he visited several national pavilions and expressed his support for the project’s mission—preserving cultural memory and promoting respect for both human and natural values.

Cooperation with international pavilions continues to expand. Nations such as Thailand, Norway, and Switzerland have also selected and named their own tree within the Forest of Civilizations. Each of these trunks adds a unique contribution to the living mosaic of human civilization presented through the project.

The Forest of Civilizations is thus becoming not only a visually striking installation but also a deeply symbolic space for gathering, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
